Re-Plumbing of Pools and Spas

As swimming pools and spas age many home owners look to revitalize the installation with new plaster, tiles and deck coverings. Unfortunately, a common mistake in completing the renovation is ignoring the underground plumbing. As the pool ages, so does the plumbing. The plumbing dries out, erodes and corrodes making it susceptible to leaks. Leaking pipes lead to soil erosion and very often structural damage due to settling. Ironically, it is the renovation (especially when flow rates are changed and deck work is completed) that often initiates the pipe leaks that cause damage to the pool or spa.

A little insight and knowledge is well worthwhile when undergoing a major swimming pool or spa renovation. When repairing or replacing piping, WCPS pays particular attention to the following:

  • Efficient hydraulic design, maximizing the performance of all circulation system components.
  • Use of high quality, rigid piping and fittings.
  • Professional installation by qualified trades people.
  • Installation of piping at a bare minimum of 18" to minimize possible freezing issues.
  • Clean backfill, compacted to the correct density.
  • Restoration of all surfaces as close as possible to their original condition.

If you feel your plumbing is old, prone to freezing, inefficient, leaky or needs to be changed please contact WCPS for a free, onsite consultation.
